Designed and created by Kristie Streicher and Eric Podnar, this service offers clients a way to soften or remove pigment from their brows due to microblading* or other forms of semi-permanent and permanent make-up services. It is not uncommon for the pigments from these services to shift and/or fade to an unnatural-looking tone such as ashy grey, black, or peachy pink. 

Pigment Removal is a multi-faceted service that offers an approach to a more natural-looking and softer brow. Treatments are tailored to the needs and wants of the client. We can simply soften and fade the current pigment to look more natural if too dark or "blocky", we can fully remove the pigment and restore your native brow, or we can reduce current pigment then add a soft and subtle Microfeathering® session to achieve your original goal.

WHAT TO EXPECT

REQUIRED BEFORE BOOKING

In a virtual consultation with our specialist we can discuss your goals, evaluate if you are a good candidate for the procedure, and answer any questions you may have. We will also go over any products and/or procedures that will need to be discontinued pre-procedure.

THE PROCEDURE

When you arrive to the studio for your appointment, we will make sure you are comfortable and apply a numbing agent to the area. A device is used to create micro-perforations in the skin. After, an alkaline oxide solution is then applied to the area which bonds itself to the pigment and extracts it through the skin. Pigment is then gently wiped away.

TIMING OF APPOINTMENT

Each treatment is 60 minutes which includes 30 minutes of numbing. We allow 6-8 weeks for the skin to heal in between treatments.

ANTICIPATED DOWNTIME

Four after-care products that are integral to the pigment softening and healing process will be provided to you. It is imperative to use these products and carefully follow all instructions for use.

there is about a week of downtime.You can expect redness immediately following the service, and scabs may develop in the area of removal by the second day post-treatment.

*Depending on skin sensitivity, you may develop slightly pink or red skin that lasts for approximately 6-8 weeks following treatment.

    2-8 sessions may be required depending on your skin type, pigment depth level, and desired effect. The number of sessions is determined after the consultation and first treatment.

FAQs

WHY NOT USE LASERS?

Laser removal is cost-intensive, color-selective, and can create color dispersion in the skin. Our Pigment Removal service can specifically target all pigment colors with fine microscopic detail. The pigment is extracted through the skin completely while lasers push the pigment particles into the skin and then get absorbed into the lymph nodes.

Instead, this two-step process utilizes a device that creates micro-perforations in the skin. An alkaline oxide solution is then applied to the area and bonds itself to the pigment and extracts it through the skin. The pigment is then wiped away. Some laser and other pigment removal options can push the pigment into the skin and deeper tissues which are then absorbed into the lymph nodes. This method allows pigment to be safely and effectively removed.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS OF THE SOLUTION? IS IT SALINE?

The solution is not a saline solution. It is a revolutionary alkaline oxide solution. The ingredients are Water, Glycerin, Talcum, Hamamelis Virginian, Pentylene Glycol, Aloe Leaf Juice, Centella Asiatica Extract, Sodium PCA, Zinc Oxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Iodide, Sulfur, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, and Disodium EDTA.

IS THERE SCABBING OR SCARRING?

Yes, scabs will be very dark in color as the pigment continues to exit through the skin. It is important to allow the scabs to fall off naturally. Typically, scabs resolve in 7-10 days, but this time varies from person to person.

When performed correctly, scarring is rare. Please advise If you are prone to scarring or keloids and we will provide an additional step to your after-care regime. Though it is not possible to guarantee zero scarring, our service and after-care significantly diminish the risks of developing scarred or damaged skin.

WILL THE PROCEDURE CAUSE HAIR LOSS?

It is not uncommon to shed a few brow hairs during any brow treatment, including a simple brow tint or shape. Our Pigment Removal  process does not damage the hair follicle or cause an unnatural amount of brow hair shedding. Pigment Removal only penetrates .5mm - 1mm  into the epidermis, whereas the hair follicles grow from the dermis (deeper skin tissue).  Studies have shown that hair growth on the eyebrows may actually improve after removal service.

DOES IT ONLY WORK ON CERTAIN PIGMENT COLORS?

Pigment Removal can target all pigment undertones like red (warm) or blue (ash) on different skin types, and varying degrees of pigment saturation to create the desired effect.
